Korn Ferry Tour’s only Texas event set for April 22-28, 2024 at Texas Rangers Golf Club; SPORTFIVE joins as new tournament operator
DALLAS – Veritex Community Bank and the Korn Ferry Tour announced a six-year extension today for Veritex to remain the title sponsor of the Veritex Bank Championship through 2030. In addition, SPORTFIVE joins as the new tournament operator.
The Veritex Bank Championship – the Korn Ferry Tour’s only event in Texas – was first played on the Korn Ferry Tour schedule in 2021, with Texas Rangers Golf Club serving as the host course in Arlington, Texas all three years. The tournament will return to Texas Rangers Golf Club on April 25-28 for the 2024 season. Spencer Levin is the event’s reigning champion, following back-to-back victories from Veritex ambassador Tyson Alexander in 2021 and 2022.
“We are thrilled to extend our partnership with Veritex and are so grateful to CEO Malcolm Holland and his team for believing in the Korn Ferry Tour and our mission,” said Korn Ferry Tour President Alex Baldwin. “Veritex is a tremendous partner and a great champion for the game of golf at every level, from junior golf through the professional ranks. Their passion for the game is an inspiration to all.”
Headquartered in Dallas, Veritex is a mid-sized community bank with $13 billion in assets and specialties in business banking, commercial loans, small business lending, treasury management and mortgages. Known as “The Golf Bank of Texas,” Veritex is deeply involved in the golf industry through its 30-plus golf ambassadors, business partnerships and community and charitable initiatives that support the game at every level.
“Veritex’s core values are truth, transparency, and integrity. These beliefs are synonymous with those inherent in the game, which is why we are proud to continue alignment with organizations such as the Korn Ferry Tour,” said Veritex CEO Malcolm Holland. “Serving as a title sponsor of the Veritex Bank Championship, on the primary pathway to the PGA TOUR, is complementary to our support of 32 player journeys in pursuit of their professional dreams. Veritex is honored to steward Texas’ only Korn Ferry Tour event in the greater Dallas/Fort Worth community.”
Headlined by six-time PGA TOUR winner, 2021 Masters Champion and 2019 Korn Ferry Tour Player of the Year, Scottie Scheffler, Veritex has 32 golf ambassadors across the PGA TOUR, Korn Ferry Tour, PGA TOUR Champions, LPGA, APGA and intercollegiate athletics. Other brand ambassadors include 2023 Korn Ferry Tour graduates Pierceson and Parker Coody, Mac Meissner and Chandler Phillips.
In addition to its player ambassadors, Veritex actively supports golfers at every stage of their journeys, through its support of the Veritex Bank Byron Nelson Junior Championship, First Tee Greater Texas, Northern Texas PGA, Southern Texas PGA, as well as the Texas Golf Hall of Fame, among others.
With over 30 years of experience in golf, SPORTFIVE joins as the new tournament operator for the Veritex Bank Championship, with Richie Sapp serving as the Tournament Director. A Dallas native, Sapp most recently served as SPORTFIVE’s Vice President of Golf Talent and oversaw brand consulting efforts after serving in the United States Air Force upon graduation from the United States Air Force Academy.
