Veritex renewed relationships with 27 Players, including Scottie Scheffler, and added two PGA Tour rookies, all with Texas ties.
DALLAS, February 21, 2024 – Veritex Community Bank maintains its leadership as the premier supporter of golf in Texas with the announcement of its 2024 Golf Ambassadors. The group of 29 players features the top-ranked individual in the World Golf Rankings and two-time consecutive PGA Tour Player of the Year, Scottie Scheffler, among others participating on the PGA, LPGA, Champions, Korn Ferry, APGA, Americas and Epson Tours. These athletes all share connections to the community, with 25 residing in Texas.
“The values our Team Veritex players demonstrate are as important as the strength of their game,” said Veritex CEO and Chairman of the Board, C. Malcolm Holland, III. “We are supporters of their journey, some with unparalleled success and others with ups and downs, and that story resonates with individuals and businesses in communities throughout Texas.”
Each relationship with a Veritex Golf Ambassador includes brand representation on either a player’s clothing or golf bag. Additionally, Team Veritex members commit to appearances at Veritex events throughout the year.
Every PGA Tour player on the roster, except for two, has served as a Veritex Golf Ambassador previously. Scheffler, along with PGA Tour rookies Pierceson Coody, Parker Coody and Mac Meissner have been supported by Veritex since turning professional. Sam Stevens, a top 70 FedEx Cup finisher, as well as Tyson Alexander, Chandler Phillips, Ryan Palmer, Kramer Hickok, Austin Smotherman and Paul Haley II are all returning Ambassadors. New to the roster in 2024 are Hayden Springer and Blain Hale, Jr., both received their PGA Tour Cards through qualifying school.
Cheyenne Knight, who won and played on the Solheim Cup team last year, and Kristen Gillman return to Team Veritex playing on the LPGA Tour. On the Champions Tour, two-time 2023 winner, David Toms and Paul Stankowski continue as Golf Ambassadors.
Representing Veritex at the developmental Tour level are Korn Ferry Tour members Noah Goodwin, Cooper Dossey, Max McGreevy and Cole Hammer. Veritex is the title sponsor of the Veritex Bank Championship, Texas’ only Korn Ferry Tournament.
Michelle Zhang will compete in her first full season on the EPSON Tour, and Mitchell Meissner, Travis Vick and Masters sensation Sam Bennett will participate in a combination of PGA Tour Americas and Korn Ferry Tour events. J.P. Thornton is Veritex’s representative on the APGA Tour.
Three collegiate standouts also are members of Team Veritex this year. Stanford’s Sadie Englemann and Texas A&M’s Jennie Park will both compete in the prestigious Augusta National Women’s Amateur. Oklahoma State standout Preston Stout matched Jordan Speith as the only three-time winner of the Veritex Bank Byron Nelson Junior Championship.
Among the professional ambassadors, the collegiate golf ties run deep in the Lone Star State as six played at Texas, four at SMU and three at Texas A&M, while Rice, Baylor, UTEP, and Texas Southern are also represented. Others graduated from Alabama, LSU, Florida and Georgia Tech.
In addition to its aforementioned association with the Golf Ambassadors, the Veritex Bank Championship, and the Veritex Bank Byron Nelson Junior Championship, Veritex provides support for junior golf and club professionals via partnerships with both the Northern and Southern Sections of the PGA of America. It recognizes Texas legends as a partner of the Texas Golf Hall of Fame. Furthermore, Veritex acts as the title sponsor for tournaments organized by the Legends Junior Tour and the men’s and women’s golf teams at SMU. The bank collaborates with entities that foster community engagement through golf, such as the I Am a Golfer Foundation at Cedar Crest Golf Course, the First Tee and the Project Shelter Pro-Am.
