DALLAS, TX—The Independent Bankers Association of Texas (IBAT)—the largest state community banking association in the nation—recently honored Veritex Community Bank in Dallas with three Best of Community Banking (BOCB) Awards. It received a gold Community Spirit award for its “Vocational Training Program” community service entry, a Bronze Eagle award for its “Financial Innovation” innovation entry and a Gold Eagle award for its “Women in Business” marketing entry.

Veritex Community Bank provides financial education to Northwest Assistance Ministries’ (NAM) students as part of its vocational training program. NAM’s Learning & Vocational Training Center provides adult educational offerings to empower its neighbors to seek new job opportunities and achieve financial independence. It helps adults gain the necessary skills to chart a career path that will lead to financial stability.
The technology team created Veritex TrueAccess, the ability to sync via open application programming interface (API) to other applications, as a solution for customers, regardless of the size of the business, that will allow them to connect real-time access of their banking transactions to other operational applications they use to run their business. With the launch of TrueAccess, Veritex Community Bank joins the likes of other global banking leaders who use a standardized API called “open banking” to empower customers with tools and processes enabled by third-party apps.
By providing this technology, Veritex Community Bank is helping its customers make better financial decisions that will lead to their growth and view the bank as a leading innovative institution.
Women in Business is a marketing vehicle that allows the banking team to prospect and build their network, specifically focusing on women networking with other women. In addition to building a solid prospect network, other business owners can spotlight their business by hosting, bringing in traffic to their location and sharing their business goals with other likeminded women in business who are engaged in the process. The Veritex banking team values the opportunity to share the stories of women-owned businesses and strives to make each event unique and welcoming to current and new members.
2023 marks the 32nd year that IBAT has celebrated the outstanding accomplishments of Texas community banks with the BOCB Awards. Community banks, such as Veritex Community Bank, play a critical role in their local communities. The Best of Community Banking competition is designed to honor local banks for their commitment to helping their customers, neighbors, employees and community. BOCB Awards recognize community banks throughout the state for their innovation, creativity and success in fulfilling a specific community or internal need. Each submission received a gold, silver or bronze eagle award in one of six categories: architectural design, bank culture, community service, financial literacy, marketing and innovation.

All BOCB gold, silver and bronze submissions can be viewed at www.ibat.org. For more information about Veritex Community Bank’s submissions and the programs they highlight, please contact Houston Area Marketing Manager Patty Martinez at (713) 275-8223.
